Punched tape, or perforated paper tape, is a data storage medium made from a strip of paper with holes punched to represent information. Unlike punched cards, it is continuous.

Originating from punched cards used to control looms in the 18th century, it was later adopted for telegraphy starting in 1842. Punched tape remained in use through the 19th and much of the 20th centuries for programmable looms, teleprinters, early computers, and later for minicomputers and CNC machines.

Here it is translated to leather, allowing you to keep a coded message close. Or a meme.
